Horse Poker

Horse Poker was first introduced in the World Series of Poker in 2002. It is a form of poker generally played in high stakes games consisting of five various poker formats which are:

  • Texas Hold-em
  • Omaha Hi-Low split eight or better
  • Razz
  • Seven Card Stud
  • Seven Card Stud hi-low split eight or better

Horse Poker is a limit game with the exception being in tournament situations such as the World Series of Poker when the final table plays a no limit Hold-em.

The rotation of the games would be predetermined by the casino, in that it may be after a full round at each table or a time constraint in that the game would be changed each hour. This format of poker is not for beginners as knowledge of the variation of games is critical as is knowledge of the format and play of the game vital.

Each of the above games listed have their own set of rules, and as Horse Poker has been created from these games it is certainly now a game that one would suggest you cut your teeth on especially if you are a first time player.

Most major casinos offer players, especially beginners a glossary on all their games, and in some cases also offer free play as a guest to try out the games, we suggest that you take up this offer as you have absolutely nothing to loose, but everything to gain
